Threshold and Doorway Magic

Today is the day! My broom finally arrived!! I am so excited!!! I really wanted a handmade broom from Broomchick to put over our doorway in our porch. It is made from broomcorn and hardwood from the States. I have made my own broom in the past, but I have it hung in our living room. And I really wanted a sturdy one for our porch.
Anyway I am slowly getting through our porch, living room and outer doorway. I will post some more info as I finish!
Today I am drying orange rinds for a protection amulet. I will post the recipe for that once I get it up!

Dried Orange Rinds
~Orange Rinds

*It is pretty straight forward. Preheat your oven to 200 degrees.
*Take your rinds and rip them into strips, lay them out on a rack so they are above the pan.
*Slide into the oven till dry. Do keep an eye on them because once they are fully dry it doesn't take long to burn them.
*Put them into a container and add to your Spelling Cabinet.

Doorways & Thresholds

"A threshold is something Sacred" Porphyry, Ancient Greek philospher

~Doorways & thresholds are not only a way for people to come and go through your home; they are also an opening for energy & spirits, both positive and negative. By creating a magiakl threshold you can construct barriers against things you'd rather keep from your family. ~
"Mrs. B's Guide to Household Witchery"

How I created a magical threshold is by first making a Witch Bottle and burying it outside my doorway. I did this a few years ago so the pic is kinda grainy. I wrapped the bottle with hemp rope and topped it off with black ribbon and the pentagram for protection and our initials.

Witch Bottle
small jar
~1/3 c. coarse salt
~ 3 sewing needles, straight pins
~ 6 iron nails
~ 9 tines from your household broom
~ 3 tbsp. of a protection herb of your choice (star anise, basil, bay leaf, pepper)
~ a pinch of dirt from your garden or yard
~ red wine or vinegar (traditionally you would use your own pee or menstrual blood...but for people who feel uncomfortable can use the red wine or vinegar so long as it has been in your home for awhile.....can you guys guess which one I used?! (insert witch cackle here))

* Pour your salt into the jar and say
"Salt for purification"
* Add the needles, saying
"As I myself sew the threads of my family life, may these needles sew safety around me and mine"
* Place the nails into the jar
" as the nails in our home pierce the wood to hold our home strong, may these nails pierce all negativity and hold it safely away from us"
* Place the brook tines into the jar
" As the broom in my home sweeps away dirt, so may these tines sweep away negativity away from this home and its family"
*Add the protection herb
" (name of herb) strengthens this protection charm"
* Add the dirt
"This soil binds this jar to my home and property"
* Pour in the liquid. Cover all the ingredients. Hold the jar, concentrating on your feelings of protection toward your family, pets and property and say
"Let this (name of liquid) drown all evil that would seek to touch me and mine."
*Cap the lid. Seal with candle wax. Add protection symbols, your family seal. Sit quietly and add your intentions again. Bury.

Next up! Protection Wash, Protection Bag and the placement of my broom.

But for now...

Peace and Love
The Bone Witch
