Hestia

Hestia chose me for the month of February. Hestia is the Goddess of the Hearth and Home. She is the Goddess that I have guarding my spelling cabinet. I have worked with her before and she is one of my favourite Goddesses. I needed to ground myself this past February and immerse myself with my family for healing. I needed to regain my strength.

Hestia is strong, nurturing and protective. Hestia was the first born child of the Titan God Chronus and Goddess Rhea. She is sister of Demeter, Hera, Poseidon, Hades and Zeus. 

She swore that she would never marry, instead she would take her own path of service to family, home and community.

Being a goddess of the hearth, she was greatly honoured by ancient Greeks and fires in their homes were not allowed to go out unless they were extinguished in a ceremonial way and then relit the same way.
