The Bone Moon (February)

The Bone Moon
~ Also known as the Snow Moon, Wild Moon, Cleansing Moon, Ice Moon and the Hunger Moon

** In years past this moon came at a time when food was scarce and for most the only source available were bones. The people chewed on the bones for its marrow and also made soup with the bones and whatever they had in storage**

A few little interesting tidbits that I found for this moon:

Nature Spirits: House Fae, Plant Fae
Herbs: Myrrh, Sage
Colors: Light Blue, Violet
Flower: Primrose
Scents: Wisteria, Heliotrope
Stones; Amethyst, Jasper
Trees: Laurel, Rowan, Cedar
Animals: Otter, Unicorn
Birds: Eagle, Chickadee
Deities: Brigit, Juno, Diana, Demeter, Persephone, Aphrodite
Power Flow: Energy working towards the surface. Cleansing, Growth, Self Love, Healing. Accept responsibility for past mistakes, forgiveness. Making future plans.

I recognize this moon. It calls to me. It calls to my La Huesera ( Bone Woman). It gives me strength, purpose, I feel on the path to Baba Yaga and on the verge to her home dancing on chicken feet.

This year we honoured the Bone Moon by a trip to a local cafe to hear local talent play. We made turkey bone soup by boiling the bones for four hours, straining the bones and adding veggies.

I am going to pick through the bones and see what is worth saving for some witch runes that I am creating.

Peace and Love
The Bone Witch
