Litha, Summer Solstice
(June 20/21)
The first day of Summer. The Longest Day of the year. Litha is a celebration of the Sun. It is a time when the Fae cause mischief & play havoc. Gardens are sprouting, flowers are blooming, the sun shines and the rain is fierce. There is a balance in the air.
We celebrated Litha this year by creating playful space in our backyard. All day we built a castle fence, set up a pool for our four children (and us adults!), set out our faerie lanterns as the rain has finally let off, created triangle banners, set out our star lights and finally late into the evening played, BBQ'd, lite a fire and danced.
This year Summer Solstice lined up with a FULL MOON!!! How amazing is that! What a super powerful day/night. Instead of working any magics I grounded and recharged. After such a busy and hectic day I needed it.
Here are some things that can help guide you on creating your own space for Litha:
Incense: Sage, Lavender, Mint, Myrrh, Lemon (anything that reminds you of summer)
Colors: Blue, Green, Yellow/Gold
Decorations: Seashells, Flowers, Faerie Lore
Ritual Ideas:
Usually since it is a Sun Festival anything that require masculine energy, but as this time around we had a Full Moon anything can be worked. Masculine and Feminine.
