Jordan Family Clock

Of course I got this idea from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. I've been reading this book to my kids and of course I have read the book myself a dozen times! My favourite part of the entire book series is when Harry first comes to the Weasley home and I thought, "How cool would that be if we had one of our own?!"

I bought a nice art board in the local craft store. I found an image of the clock on the net and copied it out. I wrote out a list of places that my family frequents. I had a few more, but I had to cut it down to size as I didn't want the clock to be too big and also only had so much room on the paper. I chose a version of the "Alice in Wonderland" Font and got to it.
This is one of the first pics of my clock:

Once I finished the penciling of the clock part I chose my brown in my markers and colored it. Once this part was finished it took me a long time to come up with an idea for the background, as I wanted it to represent us in some way. And then it took me awhile to figure out color concepts.
Here it is all colored up:

I printed off a bunch of funny pics for our faces and Bones and I brainstormed frame ideas, as he really wanted it to be framed. I ended up buying a frame with a coupon as it was just a better deal!

This was so much fun to work on. I used actual clock hands with the faces. I had bought a clock motor to use with this but it would not hold all the hands. I took apart the motor and used a plastic cylinder from it. The plastic cylinder I then coated in hot glue. Once the glue dried I was able to work the hands onto the cylinder. They are held in place by the thickness of the glue, but they are also able to move around because the hot glue sets at a rubbery type finish. I then glued some fake clock cogs onto the front of the clock piece to cover the cylinder.
