Moon Cycles

I do my circle work with the moon cycles. I feel, as many women, called to the moon. There are 13 full moons that occur every year and they represent the Goddess at her height of power. Working with the lunar cycle is called Esbats. They are different than Sabbats. Sabbats are celebrations of the sun & fire and happen eight times a year (more on that later).
So back to moon magic! Here is some great info that I have gathered on our moons cycles. I find our moon fascinating! I mean really she controls not only the tides of our ocean, but the tides of our female bodies too... anyway! Here is the info!

New Moon (pictured above)

~Magical workings can be done from the day of the new moon till 3 1/2 days after

~ This moon is for starting new ventures, new beginnings

~ For love, romance, health or job hunting

Waxing Moon (pictured above)

~ Workings can be done 7-14 days after the New Moon

~ For constructive magic, such as love, wealth, success, courage

friendship, luck or health

Full Moon (pictured above)

~ Workings can be done 14-17 1/2 days after the New Moon

~ Prime time for rituals for prophecy, protection, divination

~ Any workings needing extra power can be done now

~ Love, knowledge, legal undertakings, money, dreams

Waning Moon (pictured above)

~ Workings can be done 3 1/2 - 10 1/2 days after the Full Moon

~ Used for banishing magic, ridding oneself of addictions, illness or negativity

Dark Moon

~ Happens when the moon is invisible against the backdrop of the Sun in the sky.

~ 10 1/2 - 14 days after the Full Moon

~ The time for dealing with attackers, for exploring our darkest recesses and understanding

our angers & passions. Also bringing justice to bear.

Lunar Eclipse (pictured above)

~ Any workings are good now as the moon and sun are in perfect union.

~ Many witches like to work with the Dark Goddess for long standing problems,

while others lean towards the Shining Ones and Fairy Magic.

Moon Void of Course

~The Moon at this time is "between realms" when time is not time. 

This happens every two days or so and can last minutes or even hours

~There is distinct shift of energy. If you open yourself to it you will be able to feel it. 

~ Do not do any magical workings during this time.

~ Just relax. 

The Sidhe Moon

~ The 2nd New Moon to occur in any solar month

~ Considered to be the Reflection of the New Moon in other worlds.

The Blue Moon

~ 2nd Full Moon to occur in any solar month

~ Also considered to be the Reflection of the Full Moon in other worlds.

The Black Moon

~ 2nd Dark Moon to occur in any solar month

~This is a time of great power in the spiritual world

~ Also considered to be the Reflection of the Dark Moon in other worlds.
