Evoking the Elements

When casting a circle you must not forget to evoke the Elements. This is called by many different things, Calling the Directions, Calling upon the Watchtowers and/or Evoking the Elements. Each means something different and I have incorporated them all into my own circle casting.

When casting a circle the first thing you do is.. Cast A Circle! I've described that on it's own page so check out the link for the info.

The second thing you do is Call upon your Directions...or whatever you choose to call it. I start with the East. I've done my own research on where to start and that direction works best for me. My reasoning is the Sun rises in the East and also this is how I was taught way back in the day and it just kinda stuck. Some people start with the North. Do your research. Find which one works best for you.

When you call upon a Direction you are evoking the energy of that Direction. So With East you are evoking the Element Air. You picture air blowing through your hair and around you. Picture your Ancestors energy as East is also represented by our ancestors. For Fire you would picture the blazing fire and its heat caressing your skin, for Water picture the feel of it flowing over your skin, think of the mother's womb, for Earth picture the smell of it, the feel of it crumbling through your fingertips.

You must be commanding when speaking to the Watchtowers. You are commanding the energies of the directions. You are in control. Don't be flippy floppy about this. Embrace your inner Witch. You can either come up with your own evocation, google one or use mine. Once you feel as if you are ready speak clearly and firmly.

The below evocation is used for each direction you simply adjust it to each point and only speak for that direction. For example if you are doing Air you would only say Wisdom & Peace and not the rest of it ie/ Passion & Strength etc. and only do the action for Air as well (dropping the feathers)

Evocation

Guardians of the Watchtower of the (Direction)
Spirits of the (Element)
I do summon you and call you forth
To guard and protect this circle
To guide me with your:
Wisdom & Peace (Air)
Passion & Strength (Fire)
Clarity & Grace ( West)
Stability & Endurance (North)

Pause here and do the following for each direction

Air~ drop feathers
Fire ~ light extra candles
Water ~ Pour moon water into chalice
Earth ~ Crumble salt onto floor/ ground.

Speak again

Be Here Now

Light Direction Candle and draw out pentagram for each direction in the air (You can use your finger, wand, athame, selenite stick..anything you want)

When it is time to release your elements start with the one you ended with first and say the following:

Be gone all I have summoned here. It is time for you to go back to whence you came. Depart now and do NOT hang around. I thank you for your help. Until next time Merry We Part.

Draw out the pentagram for each direction in the air.
