Imbolc is a time when spring is at its very beginnings. Up here in the North we would like to laugh at that, as all we can see for miles is snow, but underneath that snow Gaia is stirring. This is a time when the Sun is starting to stay awake for longer periods and thereby heating the earth more. It is a time of Awakening, Rebirth, Patience, Transformation and Youth.
I can not mention Imbolc without also mentioning its most known Deity Brigit (Gaelic)/Juno (Roman). She is huge symbol for Imbolc. I would think one of the main reasons she is linked to Imbolc is because she is a fertility Goddess.
Pagans would create a doll in honour of Brigit and take her from house to house to invoke protection and blessings. For more info on Brigit check out her link.
Do not get Imbolc confused with Candlemas. I don't care what anyone says. Candlemas was formed only to christianize Imbolc for easier brainwashing and incorporation of christianity to Pagans. This is the same with "Saint" Brigid. This pisses me off and I won't even delve deeper into it than that.
I am not a huge connecter with Imbolc nor Brigit. But here are some crafts you can try out for celebrating Imbolc:
Hags Cauldron Fire
Cleopatra's Milk Bath
Candle Making
